The Michael Cuddigan Trust has commissioned two new works for 2016.
In association with the Sacconi Quartet, we have commissioned a new work by the acclaimed composer Jonathan Dove.This will be a major addition to the vocal chamber music repertoire. It will be given its premiere at the Sacconi Chamber Music Festival in Folkestone on May 20th 2016 where it will be sung by Mark Padmore accompanied by the Sacconi Quartet. It will then be performed at a further series of concerts to be announced
Jonathan Dove's music has filled opera houses with delighted audiences of all ages on five continents. Born in 1959, Dove studied composition at Cambridge and, after graduation, worked as a freelance accompanist, repetiteur, and arranger. His breakthrough opera, Flight, was commissioned in 1998 and he has gone on to create 20 operatic works alongside a large and varied choral and song output. Website: www.jonathandove.com

The award winning Sacconi Quartet was formed in 2001 and is known throughout the world for its creativity and integrity of interpretation, performing regularly throughout Europe, at London's major venues, in recordings and on radio broadcasts. The second piece is by the young composer Jordan Hunt and has been specially written for the soprano Katherine Broderick.
Jordan Hunt is a composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. Drawing on his experience as a member of the international art-pop orchestra THE IRREPRESSIBLES, the Canadian band THE HIDDEN CAMERAS and as musical companion to Olivia Chaney, Jordan Hunt offers his own unique interpretation of melancholic song, weaving melodic lines and symphonic inspired textures within a minimal landscape. Katherine Broderick was the winner of the 2007 Kathleen Ferrier award. She studied at the National Opera Studio, London, having won the gold medal at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She performs regularly in opera and at concert venues throughout Europe and made her debut in the BBC proms in 2007.
Jordan Hunt's new piece will be performed by Katherine Broderick at a series of concerts accompanied by the Angell Trio (www.angelltrio.com) in Oxford, London and Aldeburgh in 2016 on dates to be announced late this year.
